Goblin Days (Pt.1) — The Wedding | That came from the Goblin who’d fetched her, Leapwolf, the second-in-command of the Redfangs. Gothica gave Rags an insolent smile. She had on makeup that made the lines around her eyes even darker, hair dyed even blacker than normal, a weird, dark, maid-like uniform and even an umbrella that emitted shade, lined with bits of metal. |
Goblin Days (Pt. 5) – Redblade and Lilbrasi | “The meaning is in the doing. That one. Leapwolf, keep them off us.” |
The Roots (Pt. 4) | “Chickenruler on Coldcream? Leapwolf on a Carn Wolf.” |
The Roots (Pt. 4) | “Leapwolf is with Redscar. Carn Wolves can’t see in there and won’t go in! I mean on foot!” |
10.27 GMG | Leapwolf, Shineshield, Taganchiel, Mousebite, Starstarer—all Goblins that Rags trusted and knew, some of the best Redfangs. They waited, brushing at insects crawling over them, twitching sometimes when they heard the sounds growing louder. |
10.27 GMG | Fast. They crossed the ground unnaturally quickly, as Leapwolf whirled his blade around his head. [Wild Onslaught]. Redscar was using his [War Leader] Skills too—[Sudden Ambush]. The limbs didn’t even sense them or the spellcasting. |
10.27 GMG | “Attack! Leapwolf!” |
10.27 GMG | A second impact; he hit the arm, bounced down, and Somo covered Leapwolf before a finger could stab down vengefully and crush him. She took the blow, and it sent the massive Ogre spinning away. |
10.27 GMG | Leapwolf saw a bone-scythe coming for his head and jumped. He bounded off the walls of the tunnel, passing over the slashing fingers, and stabbed the hand before trying to get to the seith core again. Mousebite wasn’t so lucky. She took a slash that knocked her blade aside and sat down. |
10.27 GMG | “Redscar, fall back! Let Leapwolf—” |
10.27 GMG | She realized Leapwolf wasn’t here. He’d been with Redscar. Where was—? |
10.27 GMG | “Leapwolf dead.” |
10.27 GMG | She tripped, and two Goblins grabbed her and literally ran while holding her under the armpits. Leapwolf had blood running all down his face, and Shineshield’s shield was gone. |
10.27 GMG | The head was rolling after them, and Leapwolf looked around. Rags snarled. |
10.27 GMG | —She’d send Taganchiel first. He had a wall spell. Then Leapwolf. Rags panted as her feet hit the ground, and she just ran. But the head was angry. Alarmed. |
10.27 GMG | Her tribe would run and escape. So the Goblin grinned as her tribe began to flee, dragging the protesting Leapwolf, Somo seizing Prixall and Shineshield under one arm. |
10.27 GMG | The Skill ended, and everyone collapsed in the silence before getting up and continuing the retreat. They had to help the younger Rags to move; the [Student] was lying against one wall, gasping for air. A minute of devastation had passed on top of the four minutes since she’d activated her Skill; the image of Niers was gone. Student Rags looked mostly dead; Leapwolf was nudging her with a boot. |
10.27 GMG | She rasped, raising a shaking hand. Rags clasped it and helped the student up, but Leapwolf and Mousebite had to carry Student Rags in the end. The [Chieftain] strode with them as they headed upwards, following the markings they’d left. Another small victory for organization; without them, this Rags would have never found them in time. The…real Rags?…asked her copy the only question that she could think of as they marched. |
10.28 N | In this war for attention, Rags clears her throat, double-checks her sneaker-skate shoelaces are tied—because dead gods, what an embarrassment if they weren’t—and then gives the signal. She waits for Leapwolf to activate the scrying mirror and sees, for a second, a familiar, worried face. |
10.28 N | They’re in Goblinhome. For now, in Rags’ room. There’s a lot of pillows in here; this world’s Rags has good taste, even if Student Rags loves her dorm rooms in Elvallian more. But not for long. Rags begins walking, and Leapwolf keeps pace with her, making sure the mirror is steady, using Skills so his pacing is as smooth and level as butter. And Rags—continues. |
10.28 N | The little Goblin gapes at her as Rags motions and Leapwolf walks with her. She passes by Goblins, who run into each other, drop what they’re holding, and stare—ostensibly at the camera, but mostly at their cheerful, different Chieftain. What the heck is going on? She had a scrying orb? Here? |
10.28 N | She pushes, and a section of the wall moves. Rags reveals a rotating section of stone, cunningly hidden, and invites Leapwolf—and the audience—to see the narrow alcove. |
10.28 N | “Sneak attack! We’ve got tons of this stuff. Not just for Goblins to hide in; let’s find a murderhole, Leapwolf. Now, the trick to fighting siege battles, even on the defensive, is to outnumber the enemy and have the advantage in every way you can. But if you can’t…positioning your traps matters. For instance, this three-way intersection is the perfect spot for someone to attack a group of enemies, and wouldn’t you know it? Ceiling hatch. You can drop acid from here, a smoke bomb, or just poop.” |
10.28 N | Rags grins until her face turns serious. She beckons Leapwolf closer. |
10.28 N | A muffled sound. Rags sees, behind Leapwolf, Redscar trying not to laugh and biting his arm. Some Goblins watching are horrified, others seeing what she’s doing. Prixall is scared, amazed, and—admiring. She tips her hat. Student Rags has no idea who she is. |
