8.53 FH Omusc’s and the [Agent]’s faces fell. Dead gods damnit. Was she just an idiot?
8.53 FH The woman blanched. Omusc and the [Agent] turned at the door and saw the desperate look cast their way. Omusc slowly closed the door. She heard a muffled shout.
8.53 FH The [Agent] whispered. The pub was evacuating. Slowly, Captain Aldrail rose. The Bleakbeak Raiders turned.
8.53 FH Omusc grabbed the [Agent] and threw her behind her. She backed up into a corner and drew her weapons of choice—sickle in the offhand, a strange weapon, and shortsword in the other. She waited, but the Bloodtear Pirates were after only Garuda.
8.53 FH Omusc heard Gorry roar. She let the [Agent] run—it was only one person she wanted to see. And that person had risen, but not cast any spells in the brief surge of violence. She, like any experienced bar fighter, had put her back to something—in this case, the bar itself.
8.53 FH At last the Siren knew. She turned as the breathless [Agent] made her report, away from watching the Shifthold dock.
9.03 The [Agent] was excited but cautious, and understandably so, because a false report would be his reputation on the line. Fierre grabbed something on her desk. A big folder of paper, even illustrations.
9.03 The [Agent] spent a few seconds paging through the files and reading quickly. Fierre went on, filing more reports away.
9.03 The [Agent] was muttering in relief. Fierre smiled and wiped at her arm. It had been worth the bad sunburn and the gold to rush the packet to a [Scribe] for copying. The [Agent] glanced up.

9.03 It did something else for Fierre too, and that was the appreciative look the [Agent] gave her. He hadn’t looked twice around the room, only to check for weapons and eye the Golem. Now, he took a moment.
9.62 “This is [Agent] Virrt. Checking in. No, she’s not admitted to it yet. No…no, she’s played a few chess games. Levelled someone. Nothing fantastical yet. Update in thirty.”
9.62 Yes, [Agent]. The Gnoll took a sip of some ‘Blackfur’ ale and frowned. Then he raised a hand.
9.62 It called to him, as a Drake. Something worth twenty-one gold coins had to be…he headed over and peered over the Gnoll’s shoulder as the [Agent] spoke into a stone.
9.62 Incredible. It was a simple solution to a problem Erin didn’t know she had. She whistled as she stood behind the [Agent], who was looking around.
9.62 The [Agent] glanced up.
10.28 N Well…so what? She clearly did have intelligence. If you thought about it logically, that [Agent], Xinthe, hadn’t given Mrsha her name. Her reaction was far too genuine, and Calanfer would never give even a [Princess], let alone her child, the real name of someone. It was far too dangerous.
