4.03 K “Many classes are specific to one need. A [Farmer] grows crops and manages his land and his livestock. A [Weaver] creates things made of thread; a [Blacksmith] works with iron. They can expand their skillset, but a [Farmer] will never acquire skills to aid in dancing. He may well gain a Skill that allows him to defend his land in combat, or one that allows him to lead others that he might expand his helpers, or one that helps him heal injured people or animals. But he is still locked into his path, you see?”
Interlude – Krshia Krshia left her apartment, leaving the door unlocked. She had no fear it would be burgled—she looked up to a neighboring apartment and nodded slightly. She saw a shape in the windows nod back. Her neighbor, an old Gnoll [Weaver] was watching her apartment, as were the other Gnolls in the area.
6.10 Some were [Mages]. Others [Scribes], [Weavers], [Potters], and others that Lasica and Rufelt knew by name. There was even a [Hauler] who’d reached such a high level that he’d become a [Cargomaster]. The Garuda pair were [Aerial Dancers]. Erin met them all. Rufelt served drinks, some plain shots, others glowing, magical, wine and spirits and occasionally, juice.
6.27 M “Embrie did have a few strong [Weavers] and other tailoring experts, but not this many. And not nearly this many looms. They must have taken the gold and had some more made. I can’t account for the dyes, though.”
6.41 E “The first Cloth Golems that became String People were made by masters of the craft. [Golem Artificers], [Weavers], [High Mages]. And [Witches]. That is a part of my craft. But the act is creation. Connection. It is one part. Does that answer your question?”
6.55 K The doors were thrown open and the Quarass could see black stone and a long rug, seemingly without end inviting them in. She regarded the rug. That was new. It looked like a genuine masterpiece too; at least done by a Level 40 [Weaver]. She wondered how long it was. If it was over forty feet, she’d be impressed.
7.39 A A looted carpet, Klbkch had to suppose, since the Antinium were about as good [Weavers] as they were [Cooks]. Actually—that wasn’t fair. They had once had amazing spinners who used web like thread…
Interlude – The Tribes of Izril Inkar, the [Weaver]. Then—Inkar the [Cook]. Inkar the [Dyer]? Inkar the [Herder]. Hold on—
Interlude – The Tribes of Izril Inkar, exasperated, left the blue sheep back in their line and rode back the way she’d come. She waved at the other [Herders], one of whom called out an apology for letting the sheep get loose. Inkar stretched—then realized that the [Weavers] were ushering her over.
Interlude – The Tribes of Izril Inkar the [Weaver]. But more than weaving took place in the tents. To make wool into clothing, you had to do a lot more than weave. For instance, it had to be carded, washed…
8.01 “Druids call animals to them—or summon elementals. The talisman-users of Drath act like [Summoners], but some can also call forth artificial beings painted or drawn. Let me see…higher-level [Mages] can do a [Summoner]’s job to some degree. I have heard that there are even ways of creating Golem-type creations out of cloth, or substances beyond metal and stone, so perhaps a [Sculptor], or [Weaver] could do the same…it is not special.”
8.02 “No, this was stitched by the best [Weaver] of the Longstalker’s tribe…”
8.02 One of the [Weavers] grabbed a Decles [Warrior]. She was twenty years older than he was, but she put him in a chokehold and two more went down and the older Gnolls began kicking them.
8.22 HE “Elucina. That is my name. The one I chose. We had different names. We were…Golems. That’s the name for us. I understand there were once Golems of pottery, who rebelled. Well, in my time, the Threadmakers, the greatest [Mages] and [Weavers], decided cloth was better. They wove us more intelligent with each generation, until we began to think too much. Then we rebelled.”
8.59 H “I’ll make an appointment with the next [Weaver].”
8.60 Saliss: Who is this now? Are we [Weavers] or something? Wait…that is interesting.
8.79 “I am going to speak to my kin among [Weavers], [Spinners], and [Sewers] who will listen to me. And if they do not? I will poke a few holes in their heads.”
9.11 W They wore clothing, most of it simply spun cotton or wool, but Inkar realized, thanks to her acquaintanceship with Honored Deskie, that it came from the same [Weavers] as Riverfarm’s folk.
9.50 So had Tkrn. The former [Guardsman] was still a City Gnoll in many ways, but his fortunes seemed to have led him here. He was carrying in more food from Earth as the [Spinners], [Weavers], [Knitters], and other thread-experts gave him orders and people to find.
10.17 “It had better not take Mrell’s focus, or Adetr’s. We’ve spent too long preparing for the exhibition tomorrow! Deskie and all our [Spinners] and [Weavers] have been working nonstop—not to mention the other tribes and their woodwork.”
10.17 “Miss Lyonette offered me enough gold to buy a dozen looms and food and comfort, Eska. I love this life, but a soft bed may not be the most unpleasant thing in the world to lie in. Much less the opportunity to take a number of [Spinners] and [Weavers] and work in a city as big as Liscor.”
10.24 E Oh, that was interesting. There was no blow or snap in the adult’s voice. But the boy, Isten, took it very seriously. He didn’t seem old beyond his years; he peeked at her again, but he stopped weaving each time to look. And even the adult [Weaver], or whatever his class was, watched Ulvama with one eye, but he could probably weave rope in his sleep.
10.24 E They were next to the smashed-in boot, which had been mostly repaired, and the [Weaver] raised a hand.
10.24 E The [Weaver] tossed a knife into the carrot from where he sat, and Ulvama eyed the sharp blade. It was bright and cut the carrot so fast that the hamster stopped gnawing on it and accepted the top. It sat, munching, as Ulvama cut a generous section out for the two Fraerlings and brought it over.
10.24 E The boy glanced at Revoid, and the [Weaver] laughed and stretched his legs out. Ulvama laughed too, then saw he had a scaly gecko’s foot and part of his leg. It melded into a hairy leg, and she stared for a second as Revoid wiggled the round, three-toed foot.
10.38 E The Fraerling village of Dretonamis. Even their clothing is fanciful to the imagination of Tallfolk in their cities. The strolling Fraerlings wear insect parts or pieces of nature converted to clothing. They have cloth and [Weavers], but no huge industry. No cows; a few Fraerlings ride ‘giant aphids’, which are big enough for the six-inch tall people to move around on. A hidden settlement of people that could be erased in a moment by the wrong monster or natural disaster.
10.44 Z (Pt. 1) “Almost like someone was trying to hide…not almost, I think. Maybe it is to [Weavers] what Adamantium and the like is to [Smiths]. A challenge sent across the ages. But learning how to make more…”
