Chapter Text
10.12 H (Pt. 1) “It’s from Hraace, Quarass. Pedagogia Araxia.”
10.12 H (Pt. 1) “It is the most obvious way to improve myself, however long it might take. But if Hraace cannot be swayed…I need the Chemath Marble. They are not immune to gold, however much they pretend to be. Or if I develop a new Skill—damn [Innkeeper] classes. There has to be one useful Skill. My drinking habit for twenty more levels!”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “No. I have an eye for people, if nothing else. I’ve decided. Send all of them. Trey, Teresa, Nawalishifra since they seem to be good friends. Elena, every Earther with a mind—I’ll survive without—and the Horns of Hammerad. Send them all to Hraace!”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) Hraace, Your Majesty? The Pedagogia has not declared for you.”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “None of them have a chance in Rhir’s hells. I went to Hraace, and they turned me down.”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) Hraace was to the northeast. Practically on the corner of Chandrar! It was a little nation along a coast with some islands—not where they wanted to be!
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “Flos! What has Hraace got to do with anything? You promised me a chance to prove myself!”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) Hraace is the biggest boon I could grant, Teres. Didn’t you study them? Orthenon? No, wait—you’re not a Chandrarian.”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “Oh, come now. It’s Hraace. Don’t they at least tell stories of them? I know Chandrar has a bad reputation, but don’t parents promise their children that if they’re good, they’ll be taken to Hraace? It’s one of the few nations you’d hear about if you spoke of Chandrar! Like Samal or Erribathe in Terandria! Or Salazsarian pork!”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “So…Hraace is a good thing?”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) Hraace is no great nation of war. It has few resources save for its people. It’s very balmy. But it is an honor to go, much less be chosen. I was, when I was a boy. The Pedagogia Araxia and the Mentorship of Hraace were among my first vassals. They helped make me into the King of Destruction. Do you really not know them?”
10.12 H (Pt. 2) “Hraace is no great nation of war.
2) “Pray you are chosen—or rejoice that you are not. They are the finest instructors in weapons, etiquette, statecraft, and strategy the world knows. Take the detour, Horns of Hammerad—to the Heromakers of Hraace.”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) “When you’re two years older, I will take you to Hraace. Both of you.”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) “Father. I heard the King of Destruction is sending some of his people to Hraace. To make them [Heroes].”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) Hraace. Perhaps they might tutor you.”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) He hated Hraace.
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) The rarest of classes. The most dangerous of classes, as Doubte well knew. He thought himself exceptionally dangerous and knew how he had been made—by chance in his case—and how you could make more artificially, as Hraace did.
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) The [Hero of Zethe, Foe of Nations], Level 56, rode north. He was over a thousand miles from Hraace.
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) He rubbed at his face—remembered he’d actually nearly fought the King of Destruction, realized he no longer had his [Slave] class, and would have laughed or cried or done something, but then decided he just needed more sleep. Pisces rolled back up in the bedroll in the portable tent Flos’ people had given him. It was just past dawn, the world outside was cold, dark, and Pisces didn’t look forward to days of travel to Hraace or wherever the Horns were going next.
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) “We’re leaving for Hraace. Come on, sleep in the magical carriages. I don’t think two are enough, actually, with all the Earth-kids and the rest. You’ll miss breakfast.”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) At least Ceria looked as miserable as Pisces. She was eating from a pot serving early-morning porridge. Nothing fancy; they were still in the King of Destruction’s camp, but they were due to leave for Hraace early.
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) “This…Hraace we’re going to. A famous country, of course.”
Heroes of Hraace (Pt. 1) Faint envy was in the [Soldier]’s eyes as he served more portions of stew, and the people in line nodded. Pisces frowned. He knew Hraace, but again, not well. Colth would know more.
