9.68  Azemith’s was close to a Medusa, long ‘braids’ of serpents trailing from her head, but far longer than any Medusa’s, stretching down to the floor and rising again. Each serpent’s eyes shone a different color, and they spat shards of the killing magic the Lucifen had perfected, [Midnight Shard], without warning.
10.32 (Pt. 2)  [Midnight Shard]. The Lucifen’s favorite spell which pierced barriers and armor. Visophecin aimed three—all at the ‘Bishop’—and cast two more spells as the mace wielding Antinium, predictably, shielded the other.
10.32 (Pt. 2)  [Slippery Icy Floor] and [Orb of Force]. He sped the second spell up in his hand and flicked it like a discus at the Antinium. The Soldier had…blocked…all three [Midnight Shards] with his tower shield, and Visophecin felt slightly alarmed.
10.32 (Pt. 2)  [Midnight Shards] hammered the Antinium’s breastplate but failed to pierce the armor. [Ray of Strength Drain] failed to work again. Visophecin cast a spell on himself as searing pain radiated from his skull.
10.32 (Pt. 2)  He crushed the spell in one hand without it detonating. Visophecin shot a [Midnight Shard] at the Antinium’s leg, and Pawn sighed.
10.32 (Pt. 2)  The [Midnight Shard] swerved and missed him. Visophecin fired two more, then a spray of flames. Both curved, and the flames parted around Pawn. The Antinium regarded Visophecin.
10.35 (Pt. 2)  The Necromancer of Terandria hesitated—then he shrieked, an undead’s unearthly wail, and [Flash Stepped] forwards. Viscount Visophecin fired the first [Midnight Shard] spells; the [Necromancer] evaded each one and saw Rhisveri leap at him.
Interlude – Vernoue (Pt. 2)  The [Knight] rode back fast, and as if they’d heard him, the volley of [Midnight Shard] spells intensified the moment Nuvityn spoke. One, then six, then three—Tserre sat in her chair, refusing to move. Three more hovering shields appeared, blocking in tandem—then a chicken squawked as eight came at her.
Interlude – Vernoue (Pt. 2)  All the half-Elf’s teeth were bared, and she leaned out of the way of one of the [Midnight Shards]. Another ricocheted off her wand. Then she flicked her wand up.
Interlude – Vernoue (Pt. 2)  She vanished, whirling around and reappearing two dozen feet to the left in the air, away from her cottage. A hail of [Midnight Shards] struck it, and Tserre scoffed.
