6.49 | “I am! Geillsten. At your service.” |
6.49 | “How can I help you, Geillsten? If you’re looking for Klbkch—” |
6.49 | Erin beamed. Geillsten just gave her a slow nod. |
6.49 | “Say, Geillsten? What’s your class?” |
6.49 | The penny dropped. Erin looked around, but Geillsten was standing neatly in front of her. And she couldn’t kill him and melt his body with acid fly juice! She’d sold all of it yesterday! She hesitated and scuffed one foot on the floorboards. |
6.49 | Geillsten hesitated. He coughed again and cleared his throat. His was a thankless job. |
6.49 | “You’re really good at your job, Geillsten. Do people ever get mad at you?” |
6.50 I | Well, you could if you were paying taxes. Erin sat in her inn the next morning, feeling a bit grouchy. She’d paid the taxes. Since it wasn’t a small amount, the friendly tax-Drake, Geillsten, had even arranged for two ordinary [Guards] to pick the gold up in a bag of holding. And how polite they’d been, too! |
6.50 I | Well, the [Princess] had found out that you could and Liscor would do just that. Geillsten had referred her to the Council’s notes, which had pointed out that Erin had received the City Watch’s help on numerous occasions—an officer had even died protecting Erin’s inn. Klbkch. |
10.23 LMGY | The Council didn’t always have meetings. Lism was talking with Geillsten, the [Tax Collector], and the Drake looked very, very happy. |
10.23 LMGY | Lism flexed the Liscorian Mark he’d had prototyped, and Geillsten blinked. |
10.23 LMGY | “There’s no legal reason for an election, Geillsten.” |
10.23 LMGY | Geillsten rubbed his claws together, and Lism noted that down for their conversation with Lyonette. The rest of the Council was putting together a budget for the undead rat-killers and a backup involving a bounty with the Adventurer’s Guild; they’d made Lism come down here to ask what an acceptable tax break for Lyonette would be. Geillsten glanced at Lism and lowered his voice. |

10.23 LMGY | Lism and Geillsten half-turned, and Lism saw eighteen large Chests of Holding being dragged in. Each one was filled with gold; he hadn’t been in charge last year, but he knew what it was. Liscor’s army had been the main source of income for Liscor for most of its existence. Today? |
10.23 LMGY | The [Aide]’s mouth opened. Lism went back to talking to Geillsten. |
10.23 LMGY | “The big picture does not have your face on it, Lism! You heard Alonna and Geillsten. Making money is not as simple as hiring a [Scribe], no! Do you think I don’t know anything about currencies? Silverfangs trade city-to-city all our lives! You can’t fix the rising prices by inventing a new currency!” |
