1.24 | “Bastard. The north got him in the end. But it felt like you couldn’t see anything but smoke everywhere you looked. I heard the north was ash in some parts of it. They nearly took First Landing.” |
1.27 R | “I still can’t believe you won’t take at least some token for teaching me this delightful recipe. Won’t you take some of it with you? To the Runner’s Guild at least. You could let them all share it. Or some gold coins? I do intend to replicate the recipe, and that will put my supplier out. Oh, and Ressa? Make a note for the [Farmers] in First Landing to grow some vanilla. Bully them gently into it. With love and kisses from me, or they’ll miss the profits in a year.” |
1.32 R | “It’s just a theory. But who’re you going to believe? The City Runner who saved our life with a mysterious broken leg or…well, don’t pull out your axe, Calruz. We don’t do honor duels here, and that lot would run to First Landing if you looked at them sideways. It sounds like there’s quite a lot of politics in the Runner’s Guild—and dangerous politics at that if this is what happens to people who disobey.” |
2.08 | “Word is, there’s a special request that’s highest-priority. It’s coming all the way from First Landing and a Courier’s delivering it.” |
2.08 | “I’m not familiar with the place. Where’s First Landing?” |
2.08 | “Right. First Landing. Of course.” |
2.08 | “First Landing. If you want to see our biggest city, you have to go all the way north until you reach the ocean.” |
2.08 | “I guess I’ll hold off on that for the moment. I need to sleep. One last question for you, Fals. First Landing—that’s the north-most city, right? How far away is that?” |
2.08 | “First Landing is over three thousand miles north of here. Three thousand…three thousand and eight hundred miles? Closer to four thousand than not.” |
2.08 | Four thousand miles to First Landing. Over double that for the length of this continent. One among five. |
2.09 | “Oh, the biggest one. What’s it called? First Landing. Yes, that’s the one. That’s the highest-level innkeeper on this continent, but then, most of the ones around my age are at least Level 20 or higher. Some are even Level 30, like me!” |
2.15 | “It’s a good Guild you’ve got here. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Valceif Godfrey. I’m a Courier from First Landing. I’ve come down this way to do a delivery to the city of Liscor.” |
2.16 | “I’m a Courier from First Landing. I’ve got a delivery for the best chess player in the city of Liscor. Would that be you?” |
2.16 | “Of course. Sure! First Landing…that’s far, right?” |
2.17 | “To an extent. But my area’s usually around First Landing. This is far, even for me. In truth, I’m surprised I was called on to do this delivery. Normally there’s another Runner who makes the run around here, but apparently he was busy due to some problem with the undead in the area.” |
